How is it that bonding with a vampire is described as leaving a scar that clearly tells all other paranormals that this person is taken, and yet, after they had bonded, Theo (and every other person at the bar) had no idea that Ashton wasn’t on the market?While the technical writing in this book was much better than the ‘revised’ first book, I found the inconsistencies in the plot to be too egregious to really allow me to enjoy this book.And what vampire war are they talking about? In the first book, the Dark Side consisted of less than ten vampires. Now there’s been a war and John commands more than 200 even though they technically aren’t a coven so they won’t get noticed by the Council. Is the war the result of Louis DuCane cleaning house? Or is it from the Crimson Coven taking over? Is the Council both stupid and blind to not know, or care about, that many affiliated vampires who don’t believe that they’re subject to the Council? I can’t believe that either Louis or Crimson would let them get away with this. Or is this a whole different world, and the vampire war is something that we will be learning more about as things progress?
