This book was intended to be help guide me through a second grade common core curriculum to use with my child. This book is way beyond what any 7 or 8 year old person could or would ever want to comprehend. The texts and stories in it were difficult for my advanced 5th grader. In what planet do 7 year olds need to know this sort of hog wash "This writing from ancient Mesopotamia is called cuneiform, which means "wedge-shaped." Clearly this person has never taught a 7 year old, and if so apparently his child is a genius. Because in second grade, you are really just supposed get a good foundation on addition, subtraction, some simple multiplication and grammar concepts. I am returning this book and finding one where my kid will feel successful and actually like to learn and not have his brain filled with stupid factoids.
